Company Overview
Power Controls, Inc. is a technical sales and engineering company serving the oil, gas, and general industrial industries. For almost 40 years we’ve partnered with customers who depend on us to design and deliver custom valving solutions that protect people, safeguard the environment, and optimize performance across mission-critical infrastructure.
We are a team of experts and problem-solvers who work with speed and precision. Many of our clients have been with us for decades, relying on our unique ability to deliver fast, technically sound, and cost-effective results. Our team thrives on fast-moving challenges, deep expertise, and a culture of shared accountability and excellence.
Power Controls combines the entrepreneurial energy of a fast-moving company with the long-term trust and care of a family business. If you’re ambitious, technically sharp, and ready to contribute to a mission-driven team, you might be a great fit.
The Role: Sales Engineer
This is not a “plug-and-play” sales job. As a Sales Engineer at Power Controls, you’ll become a trusted advisor to engineers, project managers, and operators, leading high-stakes projects from technical scoping to solution delivery.
You’ll be expected to learn quickly, operate independently, and take full ownership over your work while collaborating closely with a high-performing, tight-knit team. You’ll tackle complex challenges, advise clients, and grow into a go-to expert in a vital technical niche.
Note: You don’t need experience in valve actuation or the energy markets - we’ll train you. But you must bring grit, curiosity, and a bias for action.
Who Thrives Here:
- Someone driven by curiosity - naturally drawn to math, science, and mastering technical subjects through relentless questioning and continuous learning.
- Someone who moves quickly but never sloppily - balances speed with attention to detail, knowing that small errors can lead to major consequences.
- Someone who owns results, not just tasks - takes full responsibility for success, learns from failure, and measures progress obsessively.
- Someone who actively seeks feedback, internalizes it, and uses it to raise personal and team performance.
- Someone who takes initiative, anticipates needs, and solves complex problems without waiting to be told what to do.
- Someone who makes decisions based on logic and principle - protects time, energy, and mental clarity, and is comfortable with both extreme collaboration and operating solo when needed.
Key Responsibilities:
60%: Quoting & Technical Solution Design
- Review client requests and design technically appropriate system solutions.
- Source parts across our supplier network with a focus on speed, quality, and cost.
- Create detailed, accurate quotes using our internal systems.

- Enter and manage orders from quote to delivery.
- Communicate proactively with suppliers and customers to manage expectations.
- Coordinate shipping timelines with suppliers and internal operations team.
10%: Relationship Management
- Become a trusted technical partner to engineers and procurement teams.
- Build and maintain strong professional relationships through regular communication, field visits, and events.
- Expand influence within accounts and identify cross-sell opportunities.
5%: Strategic Input & Process Improvement
- Identify new supplier opportunities or improved pricing channels.
- Help refine internal systems, tools, and structures.
- Participate in planning sessions and contribute ideas that shape our growth.
