Job Summary
This job is for a project we have on Manitou Islands in Lelenau, MI near Traverse City, MI.
You will have to stay on the island in a camper provided by our company. Boat leaves for the island on Monday morning and leaves the island on Friday.
Per diem is given for gas and food.
Island work and temporary position will start on May 28th 2026 and last until November 14th 2026.

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Journeyman Carpenter to join our dynamic construction team. In this role, you will be responsible for executing high-quality carpentry work across a variety of projects, including residential, commercial, and restoration sites. Your expertise will ensure that structures are built to precise specifications, safety standards are maintained, and client expectations are exceeded. Duties
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to accurately execute construction plans.
- Perform framing, trim carpentry, siding, roofing, door hanging, cabinet installation, and fixture setup with precision.
- Utilize hand tools and power tools safely and efficiently to cut, shape, assemble, and install various materials including wood, metal studs, drywall, stucco, and concrete forms.
- Conduct rebar installation, masonry work, plumbing rough-ins, electrical conduit setups, and water damage restoration as needed.
- Fabricate custom components through woodworking or metal fabrication techniques to meet project specifications.
- Assist in construction estimating tasks by providing accurate material measurements and labor assessments.
- Support remodeling projects by performing demolition, plastering, caulking, flooring installation, tile laying, and painting.
- Ensure all work complies with safety regulations and quality standards while maintaining a clean and organized job site.
- Collaborate effectively with team members and supervisors to meet project deadlines and resolve on-site issues promptly.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a journeyman carpenter or in a similar construction role with comprehensive knowledge of carpentry techniques.
- Strong ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings accurately.
- Proficiency with hand tools such as saws, hammers, chisels; power tools including drills, saws, grinders; and specialized equipment like CNC machines if applicable.
- Experience in construction estimating and blueprint reading is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of various construction disciplines including framing (wooden or metal), roofing, drywall installation, masonry, plumbing rough-ins, electrical work basics, and restoration industry practices.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and handle physically demanding tasks throughout the workday.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail in fabrication and installation processes.
