What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shipping Clerk position at Powell?
Position Summary
The Shipping Clerk is critical to logistics and distribution ensuring products are accurately disbursed. The clerk will carefully check items against each customers order to ensure correctness. The clerk will prepare and pack products for shipping as scheduled by the system Scheduled Ship Date or by the Shipping Supervisor. The clerk will be knowledgeable in all aspects of the documentation, customer instructions and requirements, and exchange program, (ie. Bill of Lading, Packing List, Packaging, Billing, UPS and FEDEX software); and record keeping of outgoing shipments. The clerk will monitor the supply of packaging materials and requisition additional supplies as required
Essential Responsibilities
Assure orders and shipping quantities match orders through careful audit of order documents.
Assist in resolving any discrepancies. Initiate and prepare shipping documents for both domestic and international shipments.
Answer/route all telephone calls, takes messages and routing to proper individual in a timely manner.
Answer and document tracer inquiries when requested via email and/or fax.
Complete Ship Confirm in Oracle.
Arranges for movement of freight to consignee/agent & updates the system with information.
Keep equipment and work area clear on a regular basis.
Maintain a safe working environment.
Maintain a high level of packaging and documents quality.
Perform other duties as assigned to meet business needs.
Data entry compiling and updating Oracle system.
Order packaging supplies as required.
Notify consignee of shipment arrival and coordinates shipment information to other offices and/or agents.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED desired.
Reading, writing, basic math keyboard and telephone skills are required.
Experience with Microsoft Office and ERP software
Experience in shipping (i.e. packing, crating, billing, etc.) is a plus.
Ability to handle multiple tasks.
