The Lift Maintenance Supervisor is a year-round position that assists in leading the team and operations of the Lift Maintenance Department. This department is responsible for the routine maintenance of the lifts, daily lift operation troubleshooting, lift start-up inspections and ensuring the lifts are operating properly every day.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
The Lift Maintenance Supervisor responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Be an effective leader within the guidelines of department and company policies, procedures and values, in fulfillment of Monarch’s mission statement to “provide our guests with a quality, personalized mountain experience.”
- Assist as needed with all forms, tracking, verifications and necessary documenting are executed and accurately completed in a timely manner. This includes, though not limited to requests, training, payroll, time-keeping, fiscal responsibilities, disciplinary actions...etc.
- Assist the Lift Maintenance Manager in the hiring of department A-Team employees for the department.
- Assist with scheduling department staff for efficient coverage of department functions. Adjust to actual requirements, covering staff positions as necessary.
- Assist with initial and ongoing training of departmental staff in a positive manner.
- Provide timely employee feedback to the VP of Mountain Operations or Lift Maintenance Manager and contribute to producing qualitative performance reviews of department A-Team staff.
- Be aware of and assist in staying within budgetary constraints; offer input for next season's budget proposal.
- Offer input for departmental capital requests.
- Work in conjunction with other departments as part of the Monarch team.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of training materials, manuals, checklists and other documents necessary for the success of the department.
- Prepare and assist in the oversight of department personnel in the event of an emergency, as instructed by your manager.
- Provide professional solutions and courteous assistance in problem solving for both guests and employees.
- Assist in monitoring and maintaining the inventory and condition of department supplies, properties and facilities.
- Assist the Lift Maintenance Manager in overseeing Lift Maintenance personnel and department operations, ensuring regular maintenance of on-mountain lifts, and the completion of requested projects as per priorities.
- Performs routine mechanical maintenance to maintain lifts to meet the requirements as regulated by the Colorado Passenger Tramway Safety Board (CPTSB), United States Forest Service (USFS), American National Standards Institute (ANSI), lift manufacturers and insurance carriers.
- Diagnoses and repairs lift issues as they occur, to minimize lift downtimes during operating hours.
- Performs daily pre-operational lift start-up inspections required to ensure lifts are operating properly each day.
- Assists in building and installing modifications as per Monarch Mountain needs in compliance with CPTSB, USFS, ANSI, lift manufacturers and insurance carriers.
- Coordinate machine maintenance and repair with the Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor, Lead, and Senior Director.
- Assist in ensuring that the department staff and equipment is operating within current local, state, federal, and USFS regulations; maintain appropriate regulatory records.
- Attend relative conferences, workshops, seminars…etc. as requested.
- Perform the duties of Lift Maintenance staff when necessary.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum age: 21
- Legal citizen of the United States or possess other proper work permit authentication.
- A valid driver’s license and good, company insurable driving record required.
- High School diploma or GED required; a college degree in related field preferred.
- 5 years of prior lift maintenance experience required.
- Welding Certification preferred.
- NDT Certification preferred.
- Some supervisory experience preferred.
- Ability to ski/ride at an advanced level.
- Experience operating heavy equipment and related machinery preferred.
- Experience operating power tools/tools preferred.
- Construction experience/knowledge preferred.
- Must be able to stop, turn, change directions suddenly, adapt to uneven, varying expert terrain, and move in both directions on skis or snowboard carrying up to 30 lbs.
- Requires driving and walking on uneven, slippery surfaces in all weather conditions.
- Ability to push, lift, and move up to 90 lbs.
- Requires stretching, bending, shoveling, and visual acuity in low and high lighting.
- Must be able to work on ladders and at heights.
- Travel may be required, to conferences, seminars, and workshops.
- Requires working at high elevation (up to 12,000’), and with extended exposure to adverse weather conditions, such as severe cold, heavy snowfall, strong winds, rain and intense sun.
