Middle School Girls Soccer Coach – Poultney High School - Poultney, VT Seasonal (Fall 2026) Poultney High School is seeking an enthusiastic and patient Middle School Girls Soccer Coach to lead our junior high program. This role is foundational to the success of Poultney soccer; we are looking for a coach who focuses on building a love for the game, teaching core fundamentals, and preparing student-athletes for the transition to high school competition. Key Responsibilities Instructional Focus: Prioritize basic technical skills (dribbling, passing, receiving) and introduce fundamental tactical concepts (spacing, positions). Positive Environment: Create a supportive team culture where every player has the opportunity to improve and gain confidence. Game Management: Lead the team during middle school contests, ensuring fair play, high sportsmanship, and adherence to league rules. Coordination: Work with the Varsity Girls Head Coach to align drills and terminology, ensuring a smooth transition for players moving up the ranks. Supervision: Maintain high standards of student conduct during practices, games, and bus travel. Qualifications Experience: Previous experience coaching youth or middle school sports is preferred. Strong knowledge of soccer fundamentals is a must. Approach: A "teacher-first" coaching philosophy that values effort and improvement over the scoreboard. Certifications: Must be able to meet Vermont state coaching requirements, including: NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching Concussion in Sports Training Current CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain) Communication: Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with middle school students, parents, and school administration.
