Overview
The Poulsbo Farmers Market (PFM) Assistant is a part-time seasonal position, approximately 8-10 hours per week - generally from 7:00am to 4pm Saturdays. There is a potential for additional hours, including remote work during January through March to support the Market Manager in the off season. PFM is currently seeking a Market Assistant that will help with the setup on the morning of market day and with breakdown after the market closes. In addition, the Market Assistant will help staff the Market Information Booth on a week-to-week basis during hours of market operation.
Responsibilities Under the guidance and direction of the Market Manager, the Market Assistant will be responsible for performing the following duties:
- Facilitates the set-up, tear-down and proper storage of market tables, chairs, displays and signage, traffic control barriers, market tents, and other PFM property.
- Ensures the market site is clean at the end of each market day. Work with vendors to ensure efficient set-up and take-down of the market.
- Assists with special event needs and supervises volunteers as directed by the Market Manager.
- Maintains a safe market environment for customers, vendors, and staff.
- Assists with the management and operation of EBT/Credit/Debit machine.
- Staffs the PFM Information Booth. Answers inquiries regarding the market from both customers and vendors.
- Maintains positive relationships with vendors, stays current with vendor offerings
- Assists with enforcement of Market Rules and Regulations.

Work outside and in all weather conditions. The PFM does not have a centralized office location Ability to work independently and with minimal direction

- Clear and organized work habits, positive attitude, and flexibility
- Enthusiastic advocate of local food and products. Experience with farmers markets or WA agriculture preferred
- Educational requirement: minimum junior in high school, preferred high school diploma
Physical Demands:
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.; with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 30 lbs. Hauling multiple heavy items at once on a cart.
- Frequent walking / bending, twisting and reaching / Occasional squatting and climbing
- Long periods of standing on a hard surface
- Ability to withstand sudden environmental changes in the work environment and react as needed
