What are the responsibilities and job description for the 1st Shift Custodian/Maintenance Worker position at Pottsville Area School District?
This is a full time position, 1st shift, 8 hours a day (7:00 a.m. - 4:00 pm. with 1 hr. unpaid lunch) with excellent medical, dental, vision (Capital Blue) benefits including paid sick, vacation and holidays, as well as PSERS Retirement, and 70% of your insurance deductable put into an HSA by the DIstrict each year.
At times, this position may be asked to alternate between day shift one week, and 2nd shift (2:30 p.m. - 11:00 p.m. w. half hr. unpaid lunch) every other week.
Responsibilities:
- Perform custodial duties such as sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming floors. - Perform routine maintenance tasks
- Clean and sanitize restrooms and replenish supplies
- Empty trash and recycling bins
- Dust and wipe down surfaces
- Maintain cleanliness of common areas in school buildings - Outdoor/Grounds work at times, including weed whacking, mowing, and clearing snow - Follow safety procedures and use cleaning chemicals properly
Experience:
- Previous experience in custodial or janitorial work preferred
- Knowledge of floor care techniques, including buffing and waxing
- Ability to work independently and efficiently
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain a clean and organized workspace
