A vacancy exists for a Part-time Kindergarten Instructional Assistant II.

JOB SUMMARY: Provide assistance to the teacher with instruction, general supervision, and management of the classroom; assist with preparation of the learning environment.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assist the teacher with classroom instruction; assist with preparing the work center and materials.
• Provide assistance in maintaining a neat and organized classroom.
• Provide assistance in the supervision of students during the temporary absence of the teacher from the classroom.
• Supervise activities of the children in the classroom and at recess to ensure their safety; report any problems regarding the children to the classroom teacher.
• Provide assistance to the children in development of good habits of personal hygiene.
• Monitor the children during lunch to ensure that they are receiving proper nutrition.
• Monitor and supervise the children when they are traveling throughout the hallways.
• Prepare student folders for the children to take home daily.
• Provide assistance to the students during classroom writing and math periods.
• Assist the classroom teacher with review of students’ work as they complete their assignments.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal.

QUALIFICATIONS:

High School diploma necessary

Associate’s degree preferred

Experience in working with children required

Submission of pre-employment medical examination (Section 148 of the Pennsylvania School Code)

Submission of a report of criminal history record from the Pennsylvania State Police (Section 111 of the Pennsylvania School Code)

FBI Criminal History Record

Submission of a clearance report from the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare in accordance with Act 151 of 1994

Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable

Must be considered “Highly Qualified” per the requirements of the Pennsylvania Department of Education

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Ability to reach above and below the waist

Ability to use fingers to pick, feel and grasp objects

Ability to lift and/or carry supplies and/or papers weighing no more than 20 lbs.

Ability to sit, walk, stand or move throughout the work environment, often for extended periods of the workday

Hours: 8:30am - 12:45pm on all student days.

Location: Ringing Rocks Elementary School

Compensation: $17.70 per hour

Must have current Act 34, 151 & 114 Clearances
