Role Description The Design Specialist role at Pottery Barn is a part-time, on-site position based in Cranston, RI. In this role, the Design Specialist collaborates with customers to develop personalized design solutions, including space planning, furniture selection, and home décor recommendations that reflect Pottery Barn’s aesthetic and standards. Day-to-day tasks include creating visual design concepts, preparing design presentations, and supporting the in-store team with merchandising and display set-up. The role also involves conducting product and trend research, maintaining an organized design workspace, and ensuring a welcoming, service-focused experience for every customer. Design Specialists work closely with store leadership to meet project timelines and sales goals while upholding brand guidelines.
Qualifications
- Visual design skills, including Graphic Design and Graphics, with the ability to create appealing, on-brand design concepts.
- Experience or education in Architecture and space planning to support functional, aesthetically cohesive room layouts.
- Proficiency with Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools for developing floor plans, visualizations, and client presentations.
- Strong Research abilities to stay informed on design trends, materials, and customer preferences.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a customer-focused approach and ability to present design ideas clearly.
- Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple design projects in a retail environment.
