Job Summary

 

Potterville Public Schools is seeking a dedicated, student-centered Elementary Teacher committed to building a strong foundation for lifelong learning. The ideal candidate will deliver evidence-based instruction with an emphasis on literacy, support student growth through a “whole child” approach that integrates Social-Emotional Learning (SEL), and work collaboratively within a team culture grounded in district-supported frameworks.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Certification: Valid Michigan Elementary Teaching Certificate. 
  • Endorsements: Must hold the appropriate grade-level endorsement (ZO for PK-3 or ZP for 3-6).
  • Compliance: Must meet Appropriate Placement requirements as defined by MDE.
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education or related field.
  • Clearances: Satisfactory Criminal History Check (Fingerprinting) and Unprofessional Conduct Check (PA 189).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience or training with EL Education and Number Corner
  • Knowledge of Capturing Kids’ Hearts and a commitment to positive behavior support and relationship-building
  • Strong understanding of child development and best practices in differentiated instruction
  • Ability to analyze and respond to student data to drive instruction
  • Effective communication skills with students, families, and colleagues
  • Collaborative mindset with commitment to shared success and continuous improvement

Core Responsibilities

  • Instruction: Provide Tier 1 core instruction in ELA, Math, Science, and Social Studies aligned to Michigan Academic Standards
  • Data-Driven Instruction: Use benchmark and assessment data (e.g., NWEA, mSTEP) to differentiate learning and provide Tier 2 support/interventions
  • Literacy Practices: Implement district-aligned Essential Instructional Practices in Literacy to support grade-level reading outcomes
  • Whole Child / SEL Integration: Embed Social-Emotional Learning into daily classroom routines and expectations
  • Assessment Use: Utilize formative and summative assessments to guide instruction and meet individual student needs
  • Collaboration & Team Participation: Actively participate in team structures and supports such as MTSS, including coaching and collaborative planning

SALARY: COMPENSATION ACCORDING TO THE PEA BARGAINING AGREEMENT.
