Responsibilities
- Prepare federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, small businesses, and corporations with precision and attention to detail.
- Review financial documents such as W-2s, 1099s, receipts, bank statements, and financial statements to gather necessary information for accurate tax filing.
- Utilize accounting software including QuickBooks, Sage, or other relevant tools to organize financial data and ensure compliance with tax regulations.
- Analyze client financial information to identify deductions, credits, and potential savings opportunities while maintaining thorough documentation.
- Assist clients in understanding their tax obligations by explaining complex tax concepts clearly and professionally.
- Stay current on changes in tax laws and regulations through ongoing education and research to ensure compliance and optimize client benefits.
- Collaborate with clients to gather additional documentation or clarification as needed, providing excellent customer service throughout the process.
- Support marketing efforts by promoting additional financial services such as bookkeeping or financial planning when appropriate.
- Maintain organized records of all client interactions, filings, and correspondence in accordance with confidentiality standards.
- Perform basic math calculations accurately using 10-key typing skills to verify figures and ensure error-free submissions.
Experience
- Prior experience in public accounting or a related field is highly preferred; familiarity with corporate accounting is a plus.
- Demonstrated knowledge of tax preparation processes and relevant software such as QuickBooks is essential.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial concepts, and technical accounting practices related to taxation.
- Proven ability to analyze financial data critically while paying close attention to detail.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate complex information clearly and professionally.
- Experience working with bookkeeping systems or performing basic bookkeeping tasks is advantageous.
- Basic proficiency in math and analysis skills necessary for accurate calculations and data review.
- Familiarity with sales techniques or marketing strategies related to financial services can be beneficial but is not required.
