The Potter League for Animals is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promote, protect and advance the well-being of Rhode Island’s companion animals. As the most comprehensive animal welfare organization in the state, we impact more than 10,000 companion animals each year.
JOB PURPOSE:
The Customer Care Associate provides assistance to customers visiting the Potter League. They provide support through adoption counseling, facilitating visitation between customers and animals, receiving stray/owned animals, answering incoming phone calls and providing information about the League’s programs and services. Provides quality animal and people care in accordance with the League’s mission, goals and management philosophy.
JOB DETAILS:
- Type: Full-Time, 40 hours per week
- Schedule: Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday from 7:00am to 5:30pm
- Pay: $18.00 per hour (eligible for overtime with approval), paid biweekly

SAMPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Provides quality customer service and ensures that accurate information is provided, calls are answered promptly, voice mail and email are checked regularly, and messages returned appropriately or forwarded in a timely manner.
- Responsible for accurate money transactions for retail sales, crate rentals, donations.
- Performs a wide variety of computer entry and clerical duties relating to the front desk activity.
- Maintains tidiness and cleanliness of public spaces.
- Prepares animals and their paperwork for adoption, surrender or pickup.
- Counsels and screens potential pet adopters and explains organization policies and procedures. Is familiar with and can articulate special qualities of all animals.
- Maintains lost and found records and diligently works to match missing animals.
- Assist with daily animal care duties including dog walking and kennel/litter cleaning, as necessary.
