The Zoning Board of Adjustment is a quasi-judicial board made up of five citizens appointed by the Board of Supervisors to a five-year term. The Board of Adjustment hears requests for variances, conditional uses and appeal of administrative decisions. The Board of Adjustment decisions are final and must be appealed to District Court within 30-days of the written decision. They are governed by provisions of the Code of Iowa and the Pottawattamie County, Iowa, Code in Chapter 8.096.
Members are paid $25 per diem and round-trip mileage from their home to the courthouse for each meeting they attend.
