Job description:
- Potomac Valley Veterinary Surgical Specialist is looking for a Surgery Technician or Assistant to join our team. We are looking for individuals with experience in anesthesia monitoring and can provide excellent patient care and client communication. LVT is preferred, but will consider an unlicensed technician with experience. Work hours are 10 hour shifts, 4 days a week. We are a surgical practice only, that currently has 3 surgeons who perform soft tissue, orthopedic and limited cardio surgeries. This includes but are not limited to TPLOs, TTAs, extracapsular repairs, fracture repairs, FHOs, routine/emergency abdominal laparotomies, mass removals, amputations, etc. Knowledge of these procedures is preferred but we are willing to train a highly motivated individual. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- IV catheters
- Blood draw
- Anesthesia monitoring
- Scrub nurse
- Radiology
- Bandage care and changes
- Sterilization

About you:
- Must have experience in anesthesia monitoring
- Basic surgical instrument knowledge
- Experienced and knowledgeable in proper animal handling and restraint
- Knowledge of patient positioning for radiology
- Skilled in drug calculation and administration
- Excellent client communication skills
- Must have positive attitude and ability to thrive in a busy environment
- Ability to multi task
- Desire to learn and develop new skills
