The Potomac Valley Pearls, a well-established grassroots artistic swimming team based in Laurel, Maryland, is actively seeking passionate and committed coaches to join our team. We’re currently hiring for a Head Coach to serve as the primary leader of the Potomac Valley Pearls’ artistic swimming program.
About the Team: For over 30 years, the Potomac Valley Pearls have been a staple in the local artistic swimming community. We’re a close-knit team that believes in developing not just passionate artistic swimmers but confident, disciplined, and expressive individuals. With deep community ties and a vision for growth, this is an exciting opportunity to help shape the future of artistic swimming in our region. Since our founding in 1993, the Pearls have provided a welcoming space for swimmers. We are proud to foster a supportive, fun, and inclusive environment where every swimmer is encouraged to shine and grow.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a clear vision and long-term strategic plan for the artistic swimming program
- Promote confidence, discipline, teamwork, and leadership skills alongside athletic excellence
- Lead seasonal competition planning, including routine selection and athlete placement
- Prepare athletes physically and mentally for local, regional, and national competitions
- Oversee routine creation, music selection, and thematic development
- Ensure choreography aligns with current judging standards and difficulty expectations
- Foster creativity and artistic expression while maintaining technical precision
- Recruit, mentor, and support assistant coaches
- Promote collaboration, professional growth, and consistency across coaching staff
- Foster a unified, positive coaching culture centered on athlete well-being
Who You Are
- Demonstrated passion for working with children and youth across all skill levels
- Positive, energetic, and dependable professional presence
- Committed to developing and uplifting athletes through the sport of artistic swimming
- Collaborative mindset with a dedication to continuous learning and growth
- Coaching experience preferred; however, a genuine love for working with young athletes and a desire to make a meaningful, lasting impact are essential
- CPR and SafeSport Certifications required
