Potomac Eagle Scenic Railroad is seeking to hire an experienced rail car Carman located within 50-miles of Romney, WV to maintain and enhance our passenger railroad equipment. You’ll be responsible for performing maintenance, repairs, and inspections that keep our fleet running safely and smoothly.

Duties

• Perform routine inspections and maintenance on passenger cars and locomotives, ensuring they meet safety and regulatory standards.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, knowledge of HVAC, air brake system issues as they arise.
• Use hand tools and power tools to repair and service various components while maintaining a safe and clean working environment.
• Maintain detailed records of all maintenance activities and repairs performed.

Experience

• Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience working on passenger rail cars.
• Knowledge of passenger rail car air brakes and be able to perform COT&S.
• Experience with passenger rail car electrical systems and HVAC.
• Experience with passenger rail car parts including but not limited to maintaining or changing out wheels, bearings, trucks, windows, couplers, etc.
• Ability to interpret technical manuals, diagrams and repair instructions.
• Proficiency with using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
• Experienced welder in MIG, TIG, Stick. Flux Core, Oxy Acetylene on surfaces including steel metal, cast iron, stainless steel.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
