The Finance Manager is responsible for guiding customers through the vehicle financing and insurance process after a vehicle sale has been finalized by the sales department. This role ensures legal compliance, presents optional protection products, and works to secure competitive financing while maintaining the highest level of customer service. This position plays a vital role in the dealership’s profitability and customer satisfaction.
Core Responsibilities

Customer Finance Support
- Meet with customers after a vehicle sale to explain financing options and complete loan/lease applications.
- Secure financing approvals through banks, credit unions, and manufacturer financial services.
- Present and sell aftermarket products (warranty, GAP coverage, maintenance plans, etc.) in a consultative and ethical manner.

Compliance & Documentation
- Accurately prepare all finance and insurance paperwork, including contracts, disclosures, and legal forms.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and dealership policies (e.g., privacy laws, Truth in Lending, Red Flags Rule).
- Maintain current knowledge of relevant lending laws, rates, and internal compliance protocols.

Collaboration & Coordination
- Work closely with the sales team to ensure a smooth customer transition from vehicle selection to financing.
- Coordinate vehicle delivery, ensuring all paperwork is complete and accurate before release.
- Communicate effectively with lenders and insurance companies to resolve issues and expedite funding.

Performance & Reporting
- Track and report product penetration rates, gross profit per unit (PRU), and other key F&I performance metrics.
- Assist in achieving department and dealership financial goals through responsible and transparent product presentation.
- Participate in regular performance reviews and provide input on process improvements.
Performance Expectations
- Maintain high customer satisfaction and CSI scores through professional, transparent, and respectful interactions.
- Maintain an average product per deal (PPR) and penetration rates consistent with department benchmarks.
- Ensure all deals are funded in a timely manner with no compliance flags or missing documents.
- Deliver accurate and timely deal jackets to accounting for processing.
- Uphold the highest ethical and professional standards in all customer and lender interactions.
Skills & Qualifications
- Proven experience in automotive F&I, sales, or financial services.
- Strong knowledge of retail lending practices, credit applications, and legal documentation.
- Ability to present products clearly and confidently while respecting customer preferences.
- Proficiency with dealership CRM/DMS systems (e.g., Dealertrack, Reynolds & Reynolds, CDK).
- Exceptional attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to pass required background check.
