Job Summary
Postler & Jaeckle, a well-established mechanical contractor, is seeking a Senior Mechanical Project Manager to lead complex mechanical construction projects and mentor the next generation of project leaders. This is a Full-Time role and requires a proven track record of successfully managing large-scale, mechanical projects (including HVAC, piping, and plumbing), strong leadership capabilities, and a passion for developing talent.
As a senior team member, you’ll lead the planning, execution, and delivery of a large mechanical project from conception to completion, overseeing all phases of execution while providing strategic guidance to Project Managers and Assistant Project Managers. Senior Project Managers are assigned to larger and more technically complex jobs and are expected to lead both the project strategy and field execution. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of large and complex mechanical projects from pre-construction through closeout, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives and timelines.
- Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets; manage the scope of work and ensure the project is delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
- Coordinate and manage resources, overseeing and coordinating internal teams, subcontractors, vendors, and client stakeholders to ensure the right team is in place and working effectively to meet deadlines and performance metrics.
- Work closely with engineering, design, procurement, and construction teams to ensure seamless project execution and oversee mechanical design and engineering work, ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
- Identify potential project risks and implement effective risk mitigation strategies to avoid delays or cost overruns.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for stakeholders, including clients, contractors, vendors, and internal teams, ensuring effective communication and problem resolution.
- Review and approve change orders, RFIs, and other project documentation to ensure compliance with contractual terms and conditions.
- Regularly report on project progress, financial status, and any challenges to senior leadership and clients.
- Serve as a mentor and trainer to Project Managers and Assistant Project Managers, supervising field and office personnel assigned to your projects, ensuring accountability and high performance.
- Drive project strategy, forecasting, cost control, scheduling, and contract management.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards, driving a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement across all project phases.
- Resolve high-level project challenges and client concerns.
- Represent the company in senior-level client and industry meetings.
- Support business development efforts through client relationships and industry insight.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Project Management, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 10 years of project management experience, with at least 5 years focused on large-scale, mechanical construction projects and in a senior project leadership role.
- PMP, LEED, or other relevant certifications in project management (desired).
- Proven track record of managing complex mechanical projects with multiple stakeholders and long timelines.
- Deep understanding of commercial and industrial mechanical systems (HVAC, piping, plumbing), design processes, and industry regulations.
- Exceptional leadership, mentoring, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to analyze complex problems and provide effective solutions.
- Advanced ability to manage project financials, timelines, and team performance, including the ability to manage multiple large-scale jobs concurrently.
- Proficiency in project management and scheduling software (e.g., MS Project, Procore, Primavera).
- In-depth knowledge of safety protocols, environmental standards, and compliance regulations.
Compensation & Benefits
- Annual Salary Range: $115,000 - $135,000
