Job Summary
Postler & Jaeckle is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Project Manager to provide dedicated support to our Project Management team. This is an entry-level to early-career developmental role, ideal for individuals looking to build a foundation for a career in mechanical construction project leadership.
The APM will work directly under the guidance of a Project Manager (PM) or Senior PM. The primary focus will be on learning the full project management lifecycle, supporting critical documentation and communication processes, assisting with scheduling, and coordinating with field teams and vendors to ensure project execution runs smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Project Manager (PM) with the preparation and maintenance of detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets, specifically focusing on data entry and tracking.
- Support the coordination of resources by communicating with internal teams, subcontractors, and vendors regarding logistics and delivery schedules.
- Actively learn and assist in the management of project scope by tracking submittals, Requests for Information (RFIs), and change orders through company software.
- Manage and organize all project documentation (drawings, specifications, correspondence, submittals, etc.) to ensure compliance and easy access for the team.
- Serve as a supportive communication link between the PM, field superintendents, subcontractors, and vendors for day-to-day project needs.
- Track and monitor compliance with safety and quality control standards on the job site, reporting observations to the PM.
- Support the PM in financial tasks by assisting with cost tracking, invoicing documentation, and budget monitoring.
- Attend project and client meetings, documenting key decisions, action items, and follow-up requirements for the PM.
- Actively participate in learning project strategy, forecasting, and contract management principles from the PM.
- Report directly to the assigned Project Manager or Senior Project Manager.
Qualifications
- 0–3 years of experience in construction or mechanical contracting (internships, co-ops, or relevant field experience are highly valued).
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and acute attention to detail are essential for managing project documentation.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a high willingness to learn and accept direction.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and an aptitude for learning specialized project management software (e.g., Procore).
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced team environment.
Compensation & Benefits
- Annual Salary Range: $60,000 - $85,000
