Samuel Owen Gallery, a leading contemporary art gallery with locations in Greenwich and Nantucket, is seeking a dynamic Gallery Sales Director to lead our Greenwich location. We are looking for a driven, organized, and art-savvy professional who combines sales expertise with a passion for contemporary art and client relations.
The Gallery Sales Director will oversee all aspects of the gallery's daily operations — from cultivating client relationships and managing exhibitions to driving revenue through art sales and events. This is a leadership position for a highly motivated individual who thrives in a creative, fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all gallery sales efforts, including cultivating, managing, and closing sales with private collectors, designers, and corporate clients
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with new and existing clients, artists, and partners
- Manage daily operations of the gallery
- Coordinate with artists and the curatorial team to plan exhibitions, and special events
- Oversee gallery marketing initiatives in collaboration with gallery owners, including client outreach campaigns
- Track and analyze sales performance, set goals, and prepare reports for ownership
- Maintain an in-depth knowledge of the gallery's artists, artworks, and current market trends
- Ensure an exceptional client experience in every interaction, both in-person and online
Qualifications
- 4 years of experience in a contemporary art gallery, auction house, or related art business
- Proven sales record and ability to meet or exceed revenue goals
- Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills
- Strong organizational and leadership abilities
- Knowledge of contemporary art, artists, and collectors
- Proficiency with CRM systems, inventory management, and point-of-sale software
- Knowledge of Art Systems is a plus
