What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part Time Middle School Reading Interventionist - 26/27 SY position at POST OAK MIDDLE SCHOOL?
The Reading Interventionist works collaboratively with the student's educational team and parents to develop and implement intervention strategies for the classroom and within the school environment that allows the student to develop, meet and exceed reading and literacy goals.
Essential Functions:
- Writes intervention plans for paraeducators.
- Directly service students with deficits in reading
- Assists with proctoring duties for state testing.
- Participates in child study team meetings.
- Creates learning resources for teachers, staff, students.
- Assists with content and curriculum development.
- Facilitates reading related Professional Development for teachers and other school staff.
- Analyzes data for student intervention plans; leverages data to support and implement intervention plans.
- Collaborates with English Learners (EL), Special Education (SPED), and other building coaches for curriculum and lesson planning.
- Attends coaching and Professional Learning Community (PLC) meetings to facilitate data discussions regarding literacy instruction
- Supports teachers to create reading assessments.
- Co-teaches pre planned lessons with classroom teachers.
- Supports staff to understand literacy curriculum, including reading/writing standards
- Supports reading planning of reading lessons.

Education and Experience:
Required
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
- Ability to obtain appropriate license(s) and/or endorsement(s) as required by the Commonwealth of Virginia and School Board
- An acceptable rating of prior teaching experience, as applicable.]
Preferred
- Currently possesses a Virginia Collegiate Professional or Postgraduate Professional License within a specific endorsement area(s)
- Prior teaching experience within a public school system

Employment Terms: Employment may be offered as a .5 FTE (Part Time) contract, at a minimum of 7.5 hours worked per day. This position is evaluated annually. Additional compensation awarded for credits earned toward advanced degrees.
