The Facilities Management Group (FMG) designs, manufactures, and supports advanced pre-cooling solutions that help growers, shippers, and 3PLs “waste less, earn more.” With facilities in Salinas, California, Yuma, Arizona, and beyond, FMG is committed to providing innovative OEM equipment, flexible leasing and rental options, and lifetime service support to the U.S. fresh-produce industry.


  • Position Overview

Facility Management Group (FMG), a leading OEM provider of pre-cooling and post-harvest equipment, is seeking a National Sales Engineer to promote growth across the U.S. produce industry. This individual will oversee sales, leasing, rentals, and after-sales support for FMG’s portfolio of vacuum tubes, hydro coolers, ice injectors, mobile engine rooms, and other advanced pre-cooling systems. The Sales Engineer will initially concentrate on key fresh-produce regions in the West Coast (California, Arizona, Pacific Northwest), then expand nationally. The role combines technical expertise, strong industry relationships, and a proven ability to connect with C-suite decision-makers at grower-shippers, fresh-produce cooperatives, and 3PL service providers.


  • Key Responsibilities

- Develop and implement a national sales strategy for FMG’s OEM pre-cooling equipment.

- Manage the entire sales cycle, including direct equipment sales, long-term leasing, and short-term rental programs.

- Create proposals that address client operational needs while achieving target margins and IRR goals.

- Establish FMG as a trusted partner across the West Coast’s fresh-produce regions, then expand the model nationwide.

- Identify new business opportunities with growers, shippers, packers, and logistics providers.

- Simplify complex pre-cooling and post-harvest technical requirements into customized client solutions.

- Provide engineering-driven support during client presentations, facility walk-throughs, and bid processes.

- Ensure customers receive world-class equipment commissioning, training, and ongoing technical support.

- Collaborate with FMG’s service teams to develop preventative maintenance and equipment lifecycle management programs.

- Build long-term strategic relationships with C-suite executives and operational leaders across the fresh-produce supply chain.

- Represent FMG at industry conferences, trade shows, and client strategy sessions.


  • Technical Skills

- Ammonia Refrigeration Systems (NH₃): Design, safety, operation, compressors, and pump recirculation systems. - Pre-Cooling Equipment Expertise: Vacuum cooling cycles, hydro cooling design, and ice generation/injection systems. - Controls, Automation & AI: SCADA/PLC systems, IoT sensors, predictive AI for energy optimization and waste reduction. - Energy Efficiency & Sustainability: Lifecycle cost modeling, kWh/ton benchmarks, rebate/incentive programs. - Engineering Literacy: Reading P&IDs, mechanical/electrical drawings, installation, and commissioning requirements. 

- Cold Chain & Food Safety: FSMA/HACCP standards, commodity-specific cooling needs, and shelf-life optimization. - Industry Compliance: OSHA PSM, EPA RMP, CARB, and other regional regulations governing ammonia and refrigeration.


  • Qualifications

- Minimum 15 years of proven sales and engineering experience in industrial equipment, refrigeration, agri-industrial systems, or closely related fields.

- Strong understanding of fresh-produce handling, pre-cooling processes, cold storage logistics, and supply-chain challenges.

- Proven success in engaging and selling to CEOs, COOs, CFOs, and other senior executives.

- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, understand refrigeration systems (ammonia/CO₂), and clearly communicate technical benefits to both engineers and non-technical executives.

- Excellent communication, negotiation, presentation, and relationship-building skills.

- Willing to travel extensively across the West Coast and nationwide.
