Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Billing Specialist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing medical billing processes, ensuring accurate coding, and facilitating timely reimbursement. This role requires a strong understanding of medical coding, billing procedures, and medical records management to support efficient revenue cycle operations. Duties
- Prepare and submit accurate medical claims using DRG, CPT coding, ICD-9, and ICD-10 codes.
- Review and verify medical records for completeness and correctness to support billing processes.
- Ensure proper documentation of medical procedures, diagnoses, and treatments in EMR/EHR systems.
- Manage accounts receivable by following up on unpaid or denied claims through medical collections efforts.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify billing information and resolve discrepancies.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding guidelines, insurance policies, and healthcare regulations.
- Assist in the review of medical records for compliance with billing standards and documentation requirements.
- Support the organization’s revenue cycle by ensuring timely submission of claims and accurate coding practices.
Qualifications
- Proven experience (more than five years) in medical billing, coding, or related roles within a healthcare setting.
- Strong knowledge of DRG, CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10, and medical terminology.
- Familiarity with medical office operations, including EMR/EHR systems and medical records management.
- Experience with medical collection processes and insurance claim submissions.
- Ability to interpret complex medical documentation and accurately assign appropriate codes.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail to ensure accuracy in billing processes.
- Knowledge of healthcare regulations and compliance standards related to medical billing and coding.
