What are the responsibilities and job description for the Foster Grandparent Volunteer Coordinator position at Positive Maturity Inc?
Position Summary
Positive Maturity, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to providing volunteer opportunities and social services for seniors across Central Alabama seeks a full time Volunteer Coordinator for our Foster Grandparent Program. This position will coordinate all activities of the Foster Grandparent Program primarily in Walker and Blount counties.
Essential Duties
Under the direction of the FGP Director, the Coordinator's duties include, but are not limited to:
- Providing administrative oversight of the FGP Program by ensuring compliance with terms and conditions of the federal grant and applicable federal regulations.
- Works with sponsor staff, schools, and daycares to support resource development.
- Office responsibilities include correspondence with station managers/volunteers, mailouts, collecting timesheets, calculating volunteer hours, assisting with reports, data entry, filing, and record keeping.
- Scheduling and planning events, recruiting volunteers, station visits, and attending training sessions.
- Performing other program related duties as assigned and allowable withing the FGP Program regulations.
Required Qualifications Education
- Candidates should have a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Backgrounds, references, and motor vehicle driving records will be checked. A valid driver's license is required since the job requires that some driving is necessary.
Experience
- Experience working in an education setting (daycare, school, PreK), working with seniors, and administrative/clerical experience preferred.
- Experience in this or a related field should be at least 36 months.
- Nonprofit experience preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
Technical Skills
- Candidates should have a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and experience in data entry.
- Candidates must be comfortable using computers, administrative skills, communication skills and recruitment skills.
