About the Role:

The Mental Health Assessor plays a critical role in evaluating individuals' mental health status to inform appropriate care planning and intervention strategies. This position involves conducting comprehensive assessments through interviews, observations, and standardized tools to identify mental health conditions, risks, and support needs. The assessor collaborates closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure accurate diagnosis and effective treatment recommendations. By providing detailed reports and feedback, the role supports clinical decision-making and contributes to improved patient outcomes. Ultimately, the Mental Health Assessor helps bridge the gap between patients and mental health services, facilitating timely and personalized care.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, or a related mental health field.
  • Certification or licensure as required by local or national regulatory bodies for mental health assessment.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting mental health assessments in clinical or community settings.
  • Strong understanding of DSM-5 or ICD-10 diagnostic criteria and mental health disorders.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with diverse patient populations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Licensed in Clinical Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or Psychiatry.
  • Experience working with specific populations such as children, adolescents, or individuals with substance use disorders.
  • Training in trauma-informed care and culturally competent assessment practices.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and digital assessment tools.
  • Additional certifications in mental health specialties or assessment methodologies.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough mental health assessments using clinical interviews, standardized assessment instruments, and collateral information.
  • Evaluate patients’ psychological, emotional, and social functioning to identify mental health disorders and risk factors.
  • Document assessment findings clearly and accurately in patient records and prepare detailed reports for healthcare providers.
  • Collaborate with psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to develop individualized care plans.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of mental health assessment tools, diagnostic criteria, and best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with legal, ethical, and organizational standards related to patient confidentiality and assessment procedures.
  • Provide feedback and support to patients and their families regarding assessment outcomes and available resources.
