We are seeking a driven and strategic Director of Business Development & Partnerships to lead our market entry efforts in New York State.
Role Overview
The Director of Business Development & Partnerships will be responsible for establishing Positive Energy’s presence in New York, driving growth through strategic partnerships, and securing key pilot and commercial projects. This role is ideal for an experienced energy professional who thrives in a startup environment and can build relationships across the NYS energy ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
- Market Development: Build Positive Energy’s footprint in New York State by developing and executing a go-to-market strategy.
- Partnerships: Cultivate and manage relationships with municipalities, utilities, NYSERDA, NY-BEST, and other key stakeholders.
- Business Development: Identify, pursue, and close early client opportunities, converting them into pilot projects and scalable commercial deals.
- Incentive Navigation: Leverage state and federal incentive programs to maximize project feasibility and ROI.
- Financial Structuring: Work with internal and external teams to structure financing solutions for clean energy projects.
- Thought Leadership: Represent Positive Energy at industry events, panels, and networking opportunities to position the company as a leader in energy innovation.
- Collaboration: Partner closely with internal product, engineering, and operations teams to ensure client needs are met and projects are successfully delivered.
- Growth Strategy: Provide strategic input to executive leadership on market trends, policy developments, and competitive intelligence.
Qualifications
- 10 years of experience in the energy sector (business development, utility partnerships, or project development).
- Strong network within New York State’s energy ecosystem (municipalities, utilities, NYSERDA, NY-BEST).
- Proven track record of closing multimillion-dollar energy or infrastructure projects.
- Familiarity with battery energy storage, microgrids, and demand-side management.
- Experience navigating incentive programs and structuring financing for clean energy projects.
- Entrepreneurial mindset and ability to thrive in a hands-on, fast-paced startup environment.
