Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and vigilant Animal Control Officer to join our team. This role involves ensuring public safety, animal welfare, and enforcement of local laws related to animals. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, a compassionate attitude towards animals, and the ability to handle challenging situations with professionalism. Prior experience in law enforcement, animal handling, or security is highly desirable. Duties

  • Respond promptly to calls regarding stray, injured, or aggressive animals and secure the scene
  • Capture and contain animals using humane methods and appropriate equipment
  • Investigate reports of animal cruelty, neglect, or violations of local ordinances
  • Assist in the enforcement of laws related to licensing, leash laws, and animal control regulations
  • Conduct surveillance to monitor animal activity and identify potential issues
  • Write detailed reports documenting incidents, investigations, and actions taken
  • Collaborate with law enforcement agencies on criminal investigations involving animals or related crimes
  • Educate the public on responsible pet ownership and community safety measures
  • Maintain records of animal impoundments, releases, and other relevant activities
  • Participate in community outreach programs and public awareness campaigns

Qualifications

  • Prior experience in law enforcement, security, or animal care is preferred
  • Knowledge of animal handling techniques and humane trapping methods
  • Certification in first aid and CPR is a plus
  • Strong report writing skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to conduct criminal investigations related to animal cruelty or abuse
  • Leadership qualities with the ability to manage conflict situations effectively
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Experience with surveillance technology and conflict management strategies is advantageous
  • Military background or prior security experience can be valuable assets
  • Excellent communication skills for interacting with the public and team members
