This role requires advanced knowledge of industrial electrical systems (110V–480V, 3-phase), motor controls, PLC-integrated equipment, VFDs, CNC machines, and facility power distribution.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Electrical Systems (Primary Focus)
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair industrial electrical systems ranging from 110V single-phase to 480V three-phase power.
- Install and modify electrical drops for production equipment, CNC machines, lasers, and workstations in coordination with operations and safety.
- Troubleshoot motors, contactors, relays, transformers, sensors, encoders, and safety circuits.
- Maintain and troubleshoot VFDs, soft starters, HMIs, and PLC-controlled equipment.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and OEM manuals.
- Perform advanced electrical and electro-mechanical maintenance on:
- CNC machines and laser cutting systems
- Finishing and cleaning equipment (blasters, vibratory systems, parts washers)
- Air compressors, dryers, and facility utilities
- Support machine startups, upgrades, retrofits, and relocations.
- Develop, improve, and execute electrical Preventive Maintenance (PM) procedures.
- Identify failure trends and implement corrective actions to reduce downtime.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, PM logs, and equipment histories.
- Ensure all work complies with OSHA, NFPA 70 (NEC), and company safety standards.
- Perform Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and electrical safety practices without exception.
- Support audits, safety inspections, and continuous improvement initiatives (5S, TPM).
- Serve as the go-to electrical expert for maintenance and operations teams.
- Mentor and guide junior maintenance technicians in electrical best practices.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Production, and Quality to improve equipment reliability.
Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 5–10 years of industrial electrical maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated experience with:
- 3-phase power systems (up to 480V)
- Control panels, motor controls, and VFDs
- Electrical troubleshooting under production pressure
- Technical degree or certification in Industrial Electrical, Mechatronics, or Automation.
- PLC troubleshooting experience (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar).
- Experience with CNC or automated manufacturing equipment.
- Ability to lift to 50 lbs.
- Frequent standing, bending, climbing ladders, and working in electrical panels.
- Exposure to production environments including noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
