Estimated working hours are Monday through Thursday, 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Responsibilities
- Performs clerical duties associated with surgical procedures, including obtaining and verifying patient insurance benefits and eligibility.
- Assures patient and personal safety by maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment and adhering to center staff, safety, and health programs.
- Maintains confidentiality of patients and center-related business.
- Seeks guidance and validation when situations arise that exceed the incumbent’s capabilities.
- Participates in quality assessment activities as directed, for the continuous improvement of patient care.
- Ensures compliance with surgery center protocols and regulatory requirements.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Prior experience working in a surgery center or ambulatory surgical setting preferred.
- Strong understanding of insurance verification processes, including pre-authorizations and benefits eligibility.
- Communication skills: the ability to convey written and verbal information accurately and effectively.
- Excellent listening skills, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
- The ability to function independently without constant supervision.
- The ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce reasonable answers.
- The ability to respond quickly, physically, and mentally as the need arises.
- The ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks.
- Good sense of organization.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience working in a medical office or healthcare setting is required.
- Strong office skills, including proficiency with standard office equipment (copier, fax, phones, postage equipment, etc.).
- Familiarity with medical terminology is preferred.
- Prior experience with scheduling, insurance verification, and authorization processes—especially in a healthcare or surgical environment—is highly desirable.

Pay: $22.00 - $25.50 per hour
