Job Summary and Qualifications
The Medical Transport Team Lead role is responsible for the daily shift supervision and coordination of medical transport operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality medical transport services. This role serves as the first point of contact for frontline staff, supports daily operations, reinforces organizational values and expectations, and ensures adherence to clinical, safety, and operational standards. The team lead functions as a working leader, balancing direct patient care responsibilities with team support, problem-solving, and escalation as needed.
What will you do in this role:
- Respond to requests for ambulance transports, working within appropriate scope of practice to provide safe and effective patient transport.
- Provide real-time leadership and support to crews and staff during assigned shifts.
- Ensure staff are maintaining vehicles and equipment in optimal condition, conducting regular vehicle inspections, and requesting repairs to operations coordinator or manager.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable protocols, policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Serve as the primary escalation point for operational issues, staffing concerns, and patient care questions; engaging the Leader on Call when appropriate.
- Monitor unit statuses and workflow to maintain operational efficiency and coverage.
- Support staffing needs, including schedule adjustments, callouts, and resource allocation.
- Promote a culture of accountability, professionalism, and respect; address unprofessional behavior promptly.
- Coach and mentor staff; provide real-time feedback and contribute to performance management process.
- Assist with onboarding, training, and competency validation of new employees.
- Ensure completion of required documentation.
- Maintain readiness of vehicles, equipment, and station environment; ensure shift checklists are completed.
- Facilitate communication between frontline staff and leadership; ensure information is shared accurately and in a timely manner
What qualifications you will need:
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support and PALS certifications must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date
- Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
- (AEMT-State) Advanced Emergency Medical Technicians, or Paramedic, or (EMT-State) Emergency Medical Technician New Hampshire licesne required.
- (EMT) Emergency Medical Technician, or (NRP) Nationally Registered Paramedic, or (AEMT) Advanced Emergency Medical Technicians NREMT certifications required.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in EMS or Medical Transport operations.
Previous experience in a supervisory or leadership role preferred.
High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., healthcare administration, emergency medical services) preferred.
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
