What are the responsibilities and job description for the Account Manager position at Portrait Analytics?
Portrait is hiring an Account Manager
Our GTM team builds meaningful, long-term relationships with hedge funds, long-only asset managers, and family offices. The team is responsible not just for driving new business, but for ensuring clients consistently get value from Portrait’s AI-powered investment research platform. Account Managers own client relationships, identify opportunities to deepen engagement, and expand usage across teams. This includes working closely with users to refine workflows, surface high-impact use cases, and drive broader adoption within existing accounts.
About Portrait Analytics
Portrait is a purpose-built AI research platform designed for institutional investors. We help analysts and PMs work faster and smarter by automating key research workflows: from thesis monitoring and document synthesis to custom report building and qualitative screening.
Our platform is used by leading hedge funds and institutional investors to stay ahead of key inflections, evaluate companies more efficiently, and make better-informed decisions. Portrait combines advanced LLM orchestration with proprietary research systems to deliver accuracy, transparency, and depth unmatched by generic AI tools. Our differentiation comes from delivering purpose-built research intelligence that fits directly into the workflows investors care about most.
What You’ll Do (Day-to-Day)
As an Account Manager, you are the strategic owner of each post-sale relationship. You’re focused on driving long-term retention and expansion. You’ll develop a deep understanding of each client’s investment process, how their needs evolve, and where Portrait can be embedded more meaningfully into their workflow.
- Build trusted relationships with analysts, PMs, and decision-makers across buyside institutions
- Lead regular business reviews to assess how clients are using Portrait, where it’s driving research leverage, and where there’s opportunity to go deeper
- Track and analyze client engagement using internal tools and CRM data, turning those signals into clear actions for both the client and internal teams
- Identify and drive expansion opportunities across seats, coverage, and platform tools
- Own the renewal process. Maintaining accurate forecasts, navigating commercial conversations, and securing long-term commitments
- Proactively deliver relevant insights, reports, and updates to keep Portrait embedded in the client’s research workflow
- Partner closely with GTM Associates, as well as engineering and product teams, to ensure client feedback informs ongoing development
What the Role Gives You
- Gain exposure to the investment processes of leading hedge funds and asset managers
- Develop a deep understanding of public equity research workflows across sectors, strategies, and investment styles
- Learn how AI is reshaping fundamental research, and how investors evaluate and adopt new technology
- Master the craft of relationship management at the most senior levels of the buyside
- Own a revenue number tied directly to retention and expansion, with visibility and upside that scales as the book grows
- Play a direct role in the growth trajectory of a rapidly scaling company, with a clear path into senior GTM, strategy, or product leadership
Account Managers become experts in the language of our clients: how they think, what they care about, and how they make investment decisions. Whether you view this as a launchpad into the buyside, a path to leadership within Portrait, or a chance to help build category-defining technology, we provide the environment to develop at your highest potential.
What We’re Looking For
- 3 years of experience in client success, account management, or a client-facing role within B2B SaaS, fintech, or financial services
- Demonstrated ability to own a retention or expansion number
- Broad understanding of how information and research impact investment decisions
- Passion for financial markets and the evolving role of AI in research
- Comfortable leading business reviews and negotiations with senior decision-makers
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, optimistic, and intellectually curious
- Comfort with ambiguity, difficult conversations, and the operational discipline required to keep a growing book of accounts healthy
- Undergraduate degree with strong academic or professional achievement
Bonus Points
- Prior experience selling to or working within hedge funds, asset managers, or other buyside firms
- Existing relationships across the investment community
- Fluency with Hubspot or comparable CRM systems
Compensation range:
$120,000–$150,000 OTE (includes base commission)
