Job Description:
As a tile operator in a factory setting, your role involves overseeing the operation of machinery and equipment used in the production of tiles. Here’s a detailed overview of what your responsibilities might include:
- Machine Operation: You will operate specialized machinery that is used in various stages of tile production, such as mixing raw materials, forming tiles into shape, applying glazes or coatings, and firing kilns.
- Setup and Calibration: Before starting production runs, you may need to set up machines according to production specifications. This involves adjusting settings, loading materials into hoppers or feeders, and calibrating equipment for optimal performance.
- Monitoring Production Processes: Throughout production, you'll monitor machinery and equipment to ensure they are functioning correctly. This includes checking gauges, sensors, and computerized controls to maintain quality and efficiency.
- Quality Control: Inspecting tiles at different stages of production to ensure they meet quality standards is crucial. This involves visually inspecting for defects, measuring dimensions, and conducting tests as required.
- Troubleshooting: Identifying and addressing issues that arise during production, such as equipment malfunctions or quality problems, is part of your responsibility. You'll troubleshoot machinery, make adjustments, and possibly perform minor repairs.
- Material Handling: Handling and feeding raw materials into machines, as well as moving finished tiles from production lines to drying racks or storage areas, requires careful attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols.
- Cleaning and Maintenance: Performing routine cleaning of machinery and work areas to maintain cleanliness and prevent contamination is essential. You may also be responsible for basic maintenance tasks to ensure equipment operates smoothly.
- Adherence to Safety Procedures: Following safety protocols at all times to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and your colleagues is paramount. This
includes wearing appropriate PPE, operating machinery safely, and participating in safety training.
- Record-Keeping: Maintaining accurate production records, including quantities produced, material usage, and any issues encountered during production, helps in tracking performance and identifying areas for improvement.
- Team Collaboration: Working closely with other operators, supervisors, and quality control personnel to coordinate tasks, share information, and contribute to overall production goals is important for maintaining efficiency and meeting production targets.
Qualifications:
- Education: Generally, a high school diploma or equivalent (such as a GED).
- Physical Stamina: Be able to Stand, Bend, Twist and Lift up to 35lbs in a 8,10 and 12 hour intervals (Depending on Shift).
- Attention to Detail: Being able to pay close attention to details, such as quality standards, product specifications, and safety protocols, is crucial to ensure consistent output and avoid errors.
- Technical Skills: Familiarity with basic machinery operation, tools, or equipment may be required. Training is often provided on the job, but prior experience or mechanical aptitude can be beneficial.
- Teamwork and Communication: Ability to work effectively as part of a team, follow instructions from supervisors, and communicate clearly with co-workers is important for maintaining productivity and safety in a factory environment.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Being able to identify issues that arise during production, troubleshoot problems, and make quick decisions to keep the production line running smoothly.
