The Opportunity
Portland Tractor Inc. is looking for a Shop Technician (Heavy Equipment) to join our team in Washougal, Washington. As the Shop Technician you will be responsible for repairing and rebuilding heavy equipment components with hand and power tools, rigging equipment and lifting gear.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
As the Shop Technician, your key responsibilities will include:
- Repair and rebuild heavy equipment in a safe and efficient manner
- Follow safety rules and regulations, as well as company policies and procedures
- Wear required Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) as needed
- Use rigging equipment and lifting gear to safely remove and transport components
- Use pin presses, hammers and jacks to remove attachments and frames from machinery
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area
- Communicate with management on job completion and assignments
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills, knowledge, and competencies:
- 5 to 10 years of prior work experience in heavy equipment repair and rebuild
- Experience repairing Caterpillar equipment is considered a strong asset
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to follow factory processes for repairing and dismantling equipment
- Must own hand and power tools needed to repair components and machines
- Willingness to complete training as required by the company
- Ability to work overtime and weekends when necessary
- High school diploma or equivalent required
