Overview:

PRETC is launching a new enterprise to deliver low-cost wireless services to educational institutions, non-profit and social welfare organizations. Our service rides on T-Mobile’s network and offers significant advantages over competing providers in that we do not pay cash for network access. We anticipate that our Digital Divide Initiative will serve tens of thousands of users and generate millions of dollars in annual revenue within the next few years.

We are in search of a values-aligned entrepreneurial individual to lead this effort---building a philanthropic wireless broadband service from the ground up.

The Broadband Program Director will build out, operationalize, and scale a new broadband enterprise while securing strategic partnerships and customers to bridge the digital access divide within education and nonprofit sectors.

This position requires wireless telecommunications industry expertise including business development, technical system deployments/integrations as well as go to market systems, sales, and marketing experience.

PRETC is a 501(c)(4) nonprofit organization and EBS spectrum license holder based in Portland, Oregon. PRETC provides top tier wireless broadband access to its nonprofit and education users in furtherance of their mission.

PRETC aims to bridge the digital access divide for organizations serving communities in need across the United States.

The organization also provides grants to nonprofit organizations advancing democracy and addressing racial, economic, and social injustices through its philanthropic initiative, the Oregon Raindrop Fund.


About You:

A solution oriented big thinker with cross functional, hands on expertise in the wireless broadband/telecommunications industry. As an innovative self-starter, you enjoy rolling up your sleeves and building systems and services that scale and drive impact.

You will have firsthand knowledge of wireless broadband products, services, features and industry tools and demonstrated technical management experience with systems set up, automation and integrations.

Direct experience working in B2B, education and/or nonprofit sales channels and familiarity with a variety of marketing strategies including navigating multiple partner deals through a variety of bid types and procurement vehicles.

You are a skilled communicator and negotiator comfortable working with all levels of personnel including executives, vendors, operations, and support staff.

You are a proven leader that thrives in an entrepreneurial environment and are excited to get in on the ground floor to build and operate systems, design product offerings and utilize your skills for the greater good.

The Job:

The Broadband Program Director is responsible for designing, building, and operationalizing systems and processes for a new pillar program offering significantly discounted wireless broadband services to educational and nonprofit organizations, especially those that serve communities in need.

As the founding program director, this role will oversee all aspects of the program’s business development under the direction of the Executive Director and Board of Directors. This includes researching, building, and deploying full stack back end technical systems as well as go to market systems and strategies that align with organizational goals and regulatory requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Alignment with PRETCs philanthropic goals and programmatic approach
  • 5 years’ experience with wireless broadband telecommunications products, services, and technical systems with at least 2 years working directly with retail and wholesale account management tools and third party wireless solutions
  • 3 years full life cycle sales experience in b2b, education or nonprofit sectors including multi-partner structured deals
  • Experience working with educational and governmental bid and procurement processes and portals
  • Data driven systems thinker with expertise in business development, technical solutions and integrations, workflows, automation, and processes from startup to scale
  • Demonstrated leadership experience driving outcomes across multiple functions: engineering, operations, sales, support, legal, finance and hiring
  • Exceptional project management skills including navigating scope, budget, vendors, timelines, and deliverables for multiple projects simultaneously
  • Self-directed work style committed to achieving results and creating impact
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Experience working with educational and governmental bid and procurement processes and portals
  • Proficiency with business management software including CRMs, Billing platforms, Cloud Servers and services, project management, MSOffice and G-Suite, PDF editors, etc.


Preferred Qualities:

  • Bilingual: Spanish/English    
  • Familiarity with nonprofit structures, governance, funding, and business practices
  • Previous experience with design programs or design professionals to create program collateral materials
  • Experience contracting with OEMs and navigating supply chain and fulfillment issues
  • Technical writing

 

Education and Other:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent occupational experience
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States


This position requires a non-disclosure agreement as part of the employment contract.
