TITLE: Substitute School Nurse (Per Diem) - District Wide
POSITION OVERVIEW:
Portland Public Schools seeks school nurses needed to serve various schools in the Portland Public Schools, working on an "as needed" basis. Responsibilities include assessment and treatment for injury and illness, medication administration, assistance managing and monitoring chronic illnesses such as diabetes and asthma, and various nursing services depending on the school.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have a desire to work with children and/or adolescents and an understanding of nursing care for children and adolescents
- Must be a Registered Nurse
- Experience in school nursing preferred
CREDENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must possess a current license to practice as a professional RN in Maine
- Maine State CHRC authorization (cost is $70 - more info here)
EMPLOYMENT DETAILS:
- Schedule: School year only, as needed
- Assignment: Temporary
- Wage: over $32.79 per hour ($32.79 was the 25-26 wage; the 26-27 wage will be slightly higher)
- Benefits: This position is per diem, and not eligible for employer benefits, but substitutes do accrue Earned Paid Leave (EPL) as per Maine law
- 1 hour of leave for every 40 hours worked
