TITLE: Long-Term Substitute 8th Grade English Language Arts Teacher (Spring 2026) – Moore Middle
POSITION OVERVIEW:
We are seeking a dynamic, friendly, student-centered English Language Arts teacher to join our teaching faculty at Moore Middle School as a long-term substitute starting in mid-February. The successful candidate will be adept at providing an atmosphere and an environment conducive to the academic, social and emotional development of individuals that ensure equitable access to learning opportunities for all students. In addition, the successful candidate will be responsible for developing and adjusting curricular and instructional materials to monitor student progress and meet the needs of a range of learners. Communicating and interacting with students, parents, colleagues and community members are essential in this role.
** Anticipated dates of coverage are: mid-February to May or June 2026. **
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of PPS curriculum, techniques for integrating curriculum, PPS policies, and effective instructional practices
- Understanding of the teaching/learning process
- Ability to provide instruction that reflects multiple perspectives and multicultural education
- Ability to infuse technology into curriculum
- Ability to work effectively with administrators, colleagues, central office and school based staff, students, parents and community
- Excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in applicable field of education from an accredited college or university
- Additional combinations of applicable education, training, and experience are welcome

CREDENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Maine State fingerprint (CHRC) authorization (more info)
- Maine State Teaching Certificate with one of the following endorsements (more info):
- Elementary 020 (K-8)
- English 100 (5-8)
EMPLOYMENT DETAILS:
- Temporary full-time position
- Dates of coverage: mid-February through May or June 2026 (to be determined)
- Pay: $36.43 per hour (established LTS rate, for certified teacher only)
