TITLE: Lead Lunch and Recess Coordinator - Longfellow Elementary
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Lead Recess Coordinator would take the lead in overseeing both K-2 and 3-5 lunch duty and K-2 and 3-5 recess supervision. While the Assistant Principal and Principal would be available for support and consultation, the Lead Lunch and Recess Coordinator would manage the following:
- Arrive at 10:00 to prepare supplies and materials for smooth recess and transition of cafeteria (which is a gym and cafe), allowing for any subs or additional adults to be placed on duty depending on daily attendance
- Check in with Principal and Assistant Principal around any areas of concern or follow-ups from the day before
- Support transition of students from class to lunch to recess and back to class
- Serve as lead around communication of procedures and processes on cafe and playground (e.g. lining up, eating lunch, cleaning up, transition, being safe, etc)
- Supervise safety of cafe and playground, engaging students as needed
- Ensure that there is enough staff on playground to help support all areas (especially those near Stevens Avenue, Deering Parking Lot and Deering High School) and that staff are actively supervising areas of need
- Proactively monitor and engage with students to ensure safety
- Support indoor recess/activities during inclement weather
- Serve as point person for communicating any student issues, or areas of need to principal or assistant principal
- Follow up with students as necessary in collaboration with Principal and Assistant Principal
CREDENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Maine State fingerprint (CHRC) authorization (more info - cost is $70)
EMPLOYMENT DETAILS:
- School-year position
- Temporary (not guaranteed from year to year)
- Part time, hourly
- Schedule: 10:00 am–1:00 pm daily
- Not eligible for benefits
- Wage: $18.21-21.71 (based on experience)
