TITLE: Elementary School Lunch/Recess Aide (Part Time) Openings Across District
POSITION OVERVIEW:
Elementary Schools throughout the Portland Public School District are regularly seeking Lunch / Recess Aides to provide support for students during lunch and recess each day. Duties include monitoring the cafeteria during lunch and outdoor spaces (playgrounds, fields, sports courts) and/or classrooms during recess. The days and hours of this position will vary based on the needs of the specific school, but a typical schedule would be 5 days per week for 2-3 hours per day.

CREDENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Maine State fingerprint (CHRC) authorization (more info)
- High School Diploma required
EMPLOYMENT DETAILS
- Schedule: Part-time, specific to each school's needs
- Assignment: Temporary
- Wage: Paid at Portland's minimum wage (as of 2026 that's $16.75 per hour)
- Benefits: The Lunch Aide position is not eligible for employer benefits, but does accrue Earned Paid Leave (EPL) as per Maine law
- 1 hour of leave for every 40 hours worked
