THIS IS A TEMPORARY POSITION FOR THE BENSON SUMMER SOUND PROGRAM
LOCATION, DATES, HOURS:
PROGRAM START DATE (First Day Students in Session): June 15th, 2026
PROGRAM END DATE (Last Day Students in Session): August 14th, 2026
DUTY DAYS/HOURS: Monday – Friday; 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM
ANTICIPATED LOCATIONS: KBPS at Benson High School
CONTINGENCIES
All positions are contingent on enrollment of students. It is essential that applicants remain available. We will, however, make earlier commitments as definite positions become evident. All positions are contingent upon successful clearance of a District Criminal History background check.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Announce and read news for Summer Programming on KBPS Radio.
- Provide content for Benson’s summer programming up to 4 hours per day, including writing, editing, and broadcasting.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
All employees follow Portland Public School policies, rules, and regulations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: current (or recently matriculated) Benson KBPS/radio broadcasting major student preferred.
Experience: on air experience from KBPS/radio broadcasting major classes preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
- Basic knowledge of FCC on air content guidelines.
- Basic computer skills.
- Proficient in digital studio software (ex: Adobe Audition).
- Knowledge of how to operate a radio station control board.
PAY RATE: $16.30 per hour
