Position Summary:
The Production Assistant is an entry-level position at Portland Media Center designed for individuals who are new to video production, media, and live event support. Prior professional production experience is not required. PMC is willing to train the right person, including first-time applicants who are dependable, eager to learn, and able to take direction.
The Production Assistant supports the production team before, during, and after video shoots, studio productions, live events, field productions, and day-to-day media projects. This position is hands-on and requires a positive attitude, attention to detail, reliability, and a willingness to help wherever needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with setting up and breaking down cameras, lights, audio equipment, tripods, cables, backdrops, and other production gear.
- Support producers, camera operators, editors, and technical staff during studio, field, and live productions.
- Help keep production spaces, equipment areas, and workstations clean, organized, and ready for use.
- Assist with basic camera, audio, lighting, teleprompter, grip, and production support tasks as assigned.
- Help transport, label, charge, organize, and properly store production equipment.
- Follow directions from production leads and respond quickly to changing needs during shoots or events.
- Assist with media organization, basic file handling, logging footage, preparing materials, and other post-production support tasks as needed.
- Perform other production-related duties as assigned.
