Professional women’s basketball is returning to Portland. On September 18, 2024, the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) awarded Portland its 15th franchise, bringing the league back to the city for the first time in over two decades. Owned and operated by the Bhathal family through RAJ Sports, the team will make its official debut in 2026 at the Moda Center. Portland is cementing itself as the epicenter of women’s sports, powered by a passionate fan base and a rich basketball culture. The Role

The Portland Fire are seeking a highly energetic, detail-oriented Part-Time Game Experience Coordinator to support the planning and execution of all in-arena entertainment and fan engagement elements during home games. This role is critical in creating a best-in-class live event atmosphere that reflects the energy, culture, and passion of Portland basketball.

The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, live event environment, is creative, organized, and has a strong feel for sports entertainment, timing, and crowd engagement.

What You’ll Be Up To

  • Assist in the execution of all game night presentation elements, including:
  • On-court promotions
  • Sponsor activations
  • Timeout and quarter break entertainment
  • In-game contests and fan engagement moments
  • Coordinate with:
  • Game presentation staff (host, DJ, PA announcer, production team)
  • Arena operations and event staff
  • Marketing, partnerships, and social teams.
  • Manage run of show execution:
  • Follow detailed game scripts and timing sheets
  • Ensure all elements are executed on time and at a high level
  • Communicate updates in real-time via headset
  • Serve as a point of contact for talent and participants:
  • Escort performers, contestants, and special guests
  • Ensure all participants are prepared and in position
  • Assist with pregame and halftime production setup:
  • Props, giveaways, signage, and staging
  • Coordination of entertainment groups (dance teams, performers, etc.)
  • Support fan engagement initiatives:
  • Help create memorable moments that drive energy regardless of game outcome
  • Identify opportunities to elevate crowd interaction
  • Assist with postgame wrap-up and breakdown

What It Takes

  • 1 years of experience with coordinating events, game presentation, or related work (internships included)
  • Interest in sports, entertainment, or fan engagement is a plus
  • Strong organization, communication, and time management skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Passion for women’s basketball and building community around the Portland Fire
  • Currently located in Portland, OR or within driving distance.
