What are the responsibilities and job description for the Corrections Education Coordinator - Coffee Creek Correctional Facility position at Portland Community College?
The Corrections Education Coordinator is responsible for the development and coordination of Corrections Education program systems and procedures. The emphasis is on the development and communication of program procedures (e.g. enrollment, use of space, student support, onboarding) in collaboration with stakeholders, daily oversight and coordination, and problem solving. Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
Program enrollment - Identify which students have education need codes, recruit program participants, and track enrollment. Includes conducting or arranging Education screening, orientation, intake testing, and tracking
- . Program oversight - Provide oversight and coordination of training programs (Adult Basic Education/GED, Work-based Education), collaborate with FT and PT faculty, APs, and Classified staff, and facilitate problem solving among staff, partners, and students
- . Special needs - Work with the PCC Accessibility faculty and/or staff and onsite ABE/GED instructors to ensure that the needs of the under 22 special education populations are met, including the provision of specific accommodations for students
- . Coordinate facilities use - Coordinate and/or monitor classroom utilization. Coordinate with staff and management regarding computers, equipment, and facilities issues
- . Recruitment, hiring, and evaluation – Assist with recruitment, interviewing, hiring, and evaluation (e.g. obtaining student evaluations) of staff. Manage the onboarding process of staff and volunteers. Event coordination - In collaboration with program staff, be responsible for the overall coordination of program graduations

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Education, Communication, a Social Science discipline, or related field. (Note: Experience performing the duties of this job may substitute for the degree requirement on a year for year basis.- ) Two years of experience in an educational or training environment is required Including experience working with at-risk and/or culturally diverse population
