Job Description

The Whitsell Auditorium Crew Member at PAM CUT // Center for an Untold Tomorrow serves as the first point of contact for all guests attending events at the Whitsell Auditorium. This role is responsible for performing admissions procedures, selling tickets, promoting membership, and providing engaging and informative service to enhance the visitor experience. The position also manages general information inquiries received via email and phone. Additionally, the Crew Member introduces screenings and delivers public announcements as needed

In this role, you will

  • Deliver exceptional visitor service while maintaining a welcoming, approachable, and friendly environment
  • Engage proactively with guests to provide information about current and upcoming programs, screenings, events, exhibitions, and membership opportunities
  • Sell tickets, memberships, gift cards, and related merchandise
  • Process admissions and verify tickets for films, lectures, and special events; guide visitors to appropriate locations within the auditorium
  • Introduce film screenings and programs; deliver public announcements and event information to audience members
  • Collect visitor contact information as required for marketing and reporting purposes
  • Perform routine checks of the auditorium space to ensure cleanliness, order, and safety
  • Maintain cleanliness in public areas such as the lobby, box office, and entrance zones
  • Monitor for and report safety or facility concerns (e.g., trip hazards, lighting issues) to management
  • Assist visitors during emergencies and help direct them according to safety procedures
  • Contribute to opening and closing responsibilities as scheduled
  • Handle daily cash drawer reconciliation at the beginning and end of shifts
  • Provide accessibility support by distributing and explaining usage of assistive equipment when requested
  • Respond to phone calls and emails, offering support for ticketing and general visitor inquiries
  • Ensure that promotional materials and brochures are well-stocked and up to date
  • Maintain a clean, organized shared workspace
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

To be successful in this role, you have these requirements

  • High school diploma or GED and or 1 year previous experience in a high traffic customer service setting; hospitality, retail, attractions or cultural organizations, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • General familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and Google platforms
  • Experience with point of sale systems and cash handling
  • Enthusiasm for helping people
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable with presenting information and making announcements to large and small groups of people in a public setting
  • Be respectful of diverse identities
  • Comfortable with and desire to engage with all visitors
  • Identify and positively resolve visitor issues in the moment; strong decision making and judgment skills necessary
  • Knowledge of unconscious bias and awareness of microaggressions and de escalation techniques
  • Must use discretion with confidential information

Job conditions & physical activities

  • Schedule/Hours: 10:00 a.m. to approximately 4:30–5:00 p.m. (12–13 hours per week). Days and hours are subject to change based on business needs.
  • This position requires working weekends, occasional holidays, evenings and special events as necessary
  • Works with technology to facilitate the admission process and provide customer service, including computers, ipads, scanners, two-way radios and headsets
  • Works directly with the public
  • Crew members may occasionally appear in photos or videos shared on social media, as the venue is a public space
  • Remaining stationary for prolonged periods of time; optional use of a stand up desk
  • Occasional lift/carry/push/pull up to 50 lbs with or without assistance. When lifting is required, employees are asked to use good judgment, make safety a top priority, and ask for the assistance of others or of equipment as necessary
  • Frequent typing and repetitive motion on keyboard
  • Frequent communicating with visitors and staff
  • Frequent reaching and grasping for objects such as handouts, pens, phone, and money
  • Provide accessibility equipment when needed

  • The budgeted compensation falls within pay grade B ($16.30 minimum - $18.28 midpoint - $20.26 maximum), based on experience
