What are the responsibilities and job description for the Intern position at Portfolio Finance App?
Company Description
Portfolio is a personal finance app that helps you track the value of everything you own in one place — cash, investments, crypto, real estate, vehicles, collectibles, art, watches, anything with value. Most finance tools only show you what's in your bank account. Portfolio shows you the full picture with real-time valuations that update automatically, plus an embedded AI agent called Port that helps you actually understand your net worth. We're a student-founded startup out of San Diego State University, currently in beta with our first round of users.
Role Description
This is a remote paid internship through SDSU's ZIP Launchpad. As an intern, you'll work directly with the founders on whatever matters most right now — that could be market research, content creation, community outreach, business development, product testing, or helping shape the strategy as we grow. What you do will directly impact a live product with real users.
What we're looking for
- You're curious, resourceful, and figure things out without being told exactly what to do
- You can write clearly and communicate well
- You're comfortable with tools like Excel, Google Sheets, Canva, or similar — nothing advanced, just the basics
- You have some interest in personal finance, investing, startups, or fintech — you don't need to be an expert
- You're currently enrolled at SDSU (any major — we care more about what you can do than what you're studying)
- Bonus if you've made content, built something, run a side project, or done anything that shows initiative
What you'll get
- Paid internship through ZIP Launchpad
- Real startup experience working directly with founders, not managers
- Something meaningful for your resume — not a line item, an actual story about building a product people use
- A reference from founders who will actually remember your name
