Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced full-time Physical Therapist to join our patient rehabilitation team and provide therapy services at our facility. The ideal candidate is a compassionate healer dedicated to helping patients recover their independence and mobility. We seek someone experienced with a wide range of patient injuries and age groups, eager to learn new techniques to enhance patient care. The Physical Therapist will partner with both new and ongoing patients to create a comprehensive Plan of Treatment that includes appropriate exercises, procedures, and techniques for effective and safe recovery. This role includes coordinating with other healthcare professionals and referring patients to specialists when necessary. The right candidate will inspire and encourage patients to strive for greater independence and recovery.
Responsibilities:
- Perform initial and ongoing physical therapy evaluations according to APTA standards of practice and state regulations.
- Develop individualized Plans of Treatment based on evaluations, including short- and long-term goals, collaboration with other staff, and patient and caregiver involvement.
- Implement and adjust Plans of Treatment on a consistent schedule based on patient progress.
- Document patient progress in accordance with approved medical and facility documentation procedures.
- Evaluate mobility, strength, and patient function, setting realistic and attainable goals for improvement.
- Communicate patient progress to patients, caregivers, facility staff, and healthcare professionals involved in ongoing care.
- Develop post-treatment plans for patients, including recommendations for in-home care services if necessary.
- Maintain professional knowledge through workshops and professional publications.
- Assist other staff members as needed with care and in maintaining a clean, orderly rehabilitation environment.
Qualifications:
- Proven track record of matching patient needs to effective treatment plans and implementing them safely.
- Strong experience with a variety of physical therapy techniques, including massage, physical agents, traction, hydrotherapy, and ultrasound.
- Experience in assisting and directing treatments provided by aides, technicians, and assistants.
- Knowledge of the responsible use of facility equipment and best practices for equipment maintenance.
- Experience recommending assistive equipment and follow-up programs for outpatient or home health.
- Familiarity with a wide range of patient age groups and injuries.
- Understanding of Occupational Therapy and its benefits in patient care.
- A strong sense of empathy and the ability to motivate patients to safely push their limits.
Requirements:
- Three (3) years of experience providing physical therapy in a fully equipped PT facility.
- Bachelor’s, Master’s Degree, or higher in Physical Therapy from an APTA-approved program.
- Current Physical Therapy License for the State of Maryland.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (with AED).
