What are the responsibilities and job description for the Engineering Technician - Icon Shelters position at Porter?
Summary
The primary purpose of this position is to create and review 3D models and drawings for prefabricated steel shelters. The ideal candidate will be able to understand project requirements, generate CAD models for steel shelters and roofing systems, and create submittal and part drawings.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Conceptualize and design structures using Inventor and other CAD software
- Communicate design information clearly and effectively to both technical and nontechnical audiences
- Perform other related duties as required
- Communication between Sales Reps or Customers during the design phase of a project
- Accurate development of layout drawings and details
- Accurate development of Submittal and Installation Drawings (Inventor / AutoCAD)
- Creation of Fabrication Prints
- Enter BOM into Epicor
- Process revisions to submittal and fabrication drawings
- Process print releases to the shop

Education and/or Experience
- High School Diploma and proven experience with CAD/Design Software minimally required.
- Associate’s degree or engineering technology degree preferred.
Travel
- This position requires minimal to no travel.
Computer Skills
- Demonstrated proficiency with MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Access
- Demonstrated ability in Inventor 3-D software
- Demonstrated ability with AutoCad software
Other Requirements
- Knowledge in detailing procedures
- Experience in 3D Modeling
- Highly self-motivated to take action and keep projects moving forward
