JOB SUMMARY
Porter Lyons is seeking a Retail Sales Lead to join our flagship store team in the French Quarter. This role is ideal for an experienced, sales-driven retail professional with a passion for creating exceptional client experiences. Reporting to the Store Manager, the Retail Sales Lead will serve as a trusted floor leader during assigned shifts, including opening and closing the store, supporting sales goals, assisting with clienteling, and helping maintain store standards.
The ideal candidate is proactive, polished, highly dependable, and passionate about fine jewelry, luxury retail, and relationship-based selling.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE
- Deliver an exceptional luxury shopping experience through warm, attentive, and knowledgeable service.
- Drive personal sales through product storytelling, styling guidance, and thoughtful client engagement.
- Build and maintain lasting client relationships through clienteling, follow-ups, and personalized outreach.
- Assist with high-value transactions, VIP appointments, in-store events, and special promotions.
- Support store sales goals by leading by example and maintaining a positive, service-focused presence on the floor.
FLOOR LEADERSHIP TEAM SUPPORT
- Act as the lead point of contact on the sales floor during assigned shifts, including when working independently.
- Open and close the store while following all security, POS, and operational procedures.
- Support the Store Manager by helping ensure daily tasks, floor coverage, and service standards are maintained.
- Assist with onboarding and training new team members as needed.
- Communicate clearly with the Store Manager and leadership team regarding customer needs, sales opportunities, inventory concerns, and store updates.
STORE OPERATIONS STANDARDS
- Maintain visual and quality standards, ensuring merchandise is presented beautifully and replenished as needed.
- Assist with inventory-related tasks, including restocking, stock counts, low-stock communication, and sales floor reporting.
- Keep the store clean, organized, and client-ready throughout the day.
- Ensure packaging, supplies, beverages, and other client-facing details are stocked and maintained.
- Support in-store promotions, events, and seasonal needs as directed.
VALUE SKILL SET
- 2 years of retail sales experience, preferably in luxury, jewelry, fashion, or hospitality.
- Strong sales ability with a track record of meeting or exceeding goals.
- Comfortable working independently and taking ownership/initiative as needed.
- Natural leadership qualities with a collaborative, team-oriented approach.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and customer service skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with POS systems, clienteling tools, or retail reporting preferred.
- Passion for fine jewelry, fashion, storytelling, and luxury client experience.
WORK REQUIREMENTS
- Location: Porter Lyons Flagship Store β French Quarter, New Orleans.
- Schedule: Full-time, including weekends, holidays, and peak retail periods.
- Compensation: Competitive pay commission benefits.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for prolonged periods and lift up to 15 lbs as needed.
