Position Summary:
This essential role of Shopkeeper / Apprentice Barista executes Portal West Coffee’s mission of delivering upon our promise of exceptional coffee executed beautifully, providing and leading an example of high quality beverage creation. The Shopkeeper / Apprentice Barista should execute excellent quality coffee creation and high quality hospitality by following the instructions and example of the Lead Barista. They will directly report to the Lead Barista and Founder.
The Shopkeeper / Apprentice Barista is enthusiastic, curious, and hardworking and has a strong drive to learn. It requires flexibility, a sense of urgency and a very strong work ethic. The right person for the job has a strong sense of time management and efficiency. They show a passion for delivering high-quality and top notch hospitality

Essential Job Functions and Key Responsibilities:
- Provides amazing customer service
- Enjoys interacting team members
- Performs basic ingredient management (FIFO)
- Open and/or close the store
- Cleaning and maintaining the storefront, behind the bar and the equipment
- Stock and monitor inventory
- Document and minimize waste
- Clock in/out and and communicate effectively for scheduling
Recommended Skills and Education:
- 1 or more years of hospitality experience and at least six months of barista experience.
- Able to multitask effectively
- Possess math skills and can operate various platforms for shop operations.
- Valid food handlers card
- Navigating an iPad/Tablet/computer and necessary applications within it for daily operation
Physical Demands:
The Shopkeeper / Apprentice Barista is expected to be able to perform job functions with reasonable accommodation.
Physical demands include:
- Remaining standing in a stationary position and walking throughout the facility for extended periods of time each day
- Reaches, bends, squatting, and lifting (up to 75lbs); carries 60lbs over short distances
- Must be able to lift 60lbs throughout the day

- $11 / hour Tips
