What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bus Attendant position at Port Washington?
The Bus Attendant is responsible for assisting the school bus driver in maintaining order on the bus and assuring the safety of all passengers while entering, riding, and departing from the bus
- Maintains order and behavior of children on the bus so the driver will not be distracted from safe driving
- Releases students only to persons given permission to do so.
- Understands, encourages, and carries out the principles of safety management
- Learns bus route, and notifies substitute driver when necessary
- Greet students in a pleasant manner
- Help students as necessary
- Ensure all students arrive safely at their destination
- Perform other duties as assigned
Job Qualifications
Must be at least 19 years old, possess good interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written)
Must have the ability to work with students of all ages
Must be able to work varying shifts
All candidates must pass a drug test and extensive background check
