Are you an experienced early childhood educator who is passionate about helping young children learn, grow, and thrive?
The Port Washington Children’s Center (PWCC) is looking for a dedicated, nurturing, and enthusiastic Lead Early Childhood Teacher to join our Early Childhood Program.
As a Lead Teacher, you will play an important role in creating a warm, engaging, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment. You will lead your classroom team, build meaningful relationships with children and families, and help create experiences that encourage curiosity, confidence, and a love of learning.
What You’ll Do
- Lead and manage the daily operation of your classroom
- Create and implement engaging, age-appropriate activities and learning experiences
- Provide a safe, nurturing, and positive classroom environment
- Support each child’s social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with children and families
- Work collaboratively with Teacher’s Assistants and other members of the teaching team
- Provide guidance and support to classroom staff
- Maintain accurate classroom records and documentation
- Communicate regularly and professionally with families
- Maintain a clean, organized, and inviting classroom environment
- Follow all health, safety, and OCFS regulations and requirements
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and center-wide activities
- Serve as a positive role model for children and fellow staff members
What We’re Looking For
- Experience as a lead teacher in an early childhood or preschool setting
- Knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate practices
- Familiarity with OCFS regulations and requirements
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A warm, patient, and nurturing personality
- Ability to lead and work effectively as part of a classroom team
- Dependable, responsible, and professional
- A genuine passion for working with young children
- Appropriate education and credentials required for the position under applicable OCFS regulations
